Stormwater Detention Pond in a Coal Unloading Facility in Regional NSW

Plants and treatment wetlands can surely do amazing things! These before-and-after photos were taken at a stormwater detention pond in a coal unloading facility in regional NSW, where we installed a floating wetland. The dark water sample was taken from the detention pond\’s inlet, while the clearer one was sampled from the outlet.

The plants for this floating wetland were specially selected to combat the harsh brackish conditions of the detention pond. It\’s astonishing to see how well they work in reducing TSS, TP, and TN while submerged in this environment.

Thanks to Andrew Buggins for these cracking images!
